I would have liked to place my palm,
this thumb, this sunlight,
against your back,
feel the curve and hollow,
follow
the buttons of your spine, up
to your neck, and ear,
make you laugh, lips to lobe, skin prickle.
And then, travel jaw bone to chin
and press
a finger to cleft,
until mouth met mouth and
breath warmed lips
already smiling,
already familiar.
