Why I Write About Home So Much...

*I moved back into my old apartment, without a husband but with a two-year old daughter, in September 2005.

*In May 2006 we had a house fire that kicked our poor asses onto the street.

*We moved in with family while trying to figure out where to live with Edmonton's out of control rental prices.

*Moved out, and into my parents (empty) house that was for sale while we waited for a friend's house to be renovated that he was going to rent to us for reeeeeeeeally cheap.

*My parent's house sold; we moved back in with different family.

*The "new" renovated house is unfinished ten months later. I like that friend but gave up on his house. I'm moving into a different new house with my daughter. My mom and my three foster siblings are going to live with us.
We're painting our asses off to make it feel like home.

In case I lost you, that's five houses in thirteen months. I haven't slept in my own bed for thirteen months. India's toys have been in storage for thirteen months. I haven't used my espresso machine for thirteen months.

This week's gonna feel like Christmas.

Angela, I am so happy for you, I'm nearly in tears. I've never been THAT long without my bed, but have had my precious things, and the things of my kids in storage, and know the joy of seeing them again - long lost friends. And the joy of being HOME again, after so long away.

We are in the midst of renovating - a weird world that one adapts to, almost as if it will never end. You have given me courage that I WILL see normalcy again one day. Thanks for that!

And Welcome Home!

shan- thank you, thank you, thank you.

mrs. anya, hi there. thanks for coming by!

cherie - ugh. renovating. you will! you will see normal again, and it will be beautiful (and likely more expensive than you budgeted for!)

christy- i've been meaning to email you (but am being naughty and commenting instead) about your fantastic home. I have never seen anything like it. it's so beautiful. I can't believe you all built it. i looked at it for ages and would have spent even longer if i wasn't on darn dial up at work and about to go nuts. you must be so proud. i keep telling people about it!

Hey, thanks! It was two years without indoor plumbing and a whole lot of building on my husband's (and Joel's) part. I built a baby and cared for two others during that time. Needless to say, we REALLY appreciate indoor plumbing. Come visit sometime!
