There is a half-moon tonight, right outside my window as I type. The clouds are blowing black over it's glowing ring and I keep waiting for it to be obscured by the next thick cloud. It keeps shining through. I find I am cheering for the moon. I am watching, hoping, urging it not to be overtaken by the clouds. Go moon.
I worked as a bartender when I was in University. Besides the alcoholics banging on the door at ten in the morning and trying to study during my breaks, I don't have many fond memories of the place, except for a comment a regular made one evening. I was complaining about the way the moon kept waking me up every night, shining in through my bedroom window, right on to my sleeping face. "Come on," she said. "We live in Alberta. You've got to take what beauty you can get."
Now, I try to move my face into the beam of moonlight when I can. I lie in my bed, glorying in the white light on my face, how it illuminates my bedroom, casting such wonderful shadows on the walls. Sometimes I pull out a book, just to see if I can read by the light of the moon. Once I could.

Oh, but there are so MANY things beautiful about Alberta.
But I do agree that the moon is wonderful.
Lovely entry, Ang. Go moon.
Alberta, Alberta. It is beautiful. Fantastic. Have a tough time with those rednecks though. Probably because they look too much like me some days.
ah... now I am embarrassed at how I angrily tugged my curtain shut last night as the moon beamed down on my sleeping face!
I recall when Dan and I were first married and we went up to Algonquin Park and rented a cabin on the lake one summer... We were awakened in the middle of the night by a blinding light which was the full moon reflecting off the lake and onto our pillows. I have never seen the moon so absolutely bright or breath-taking since. Or perhaps I just haven't given it a fair chance? ; ) Good to see you back, Ang!

Oh, I want to rent a cabin on the lack so badly right now! That sounds perfect - sand and sunburns and freckles and swimming instead of showering and those black, black nights.
